My Ten-Year Challenge!

Here’s a throwback of ME 10 years ago! Wow, I can’t believe ten years have passed already. Last month was my birthday and I felt like the past ten years of my life was all a blur. Now, I a married woman with three children, huge plant lover, blogger/vlogger and 20 lbs. heavier! 😉

Alright, let’s talk about, do I have any regrets from my past?

Absolutely! I wish I started my blog a long time ago. My blog is almost 2 years old now. If I started it 10 years ago, I would have been able to talk/write about exciting and crazy topics, as it was happening; such as, dating scene in LA, being in a relationship to marriage, decision to have kids, birth experience etc.

I wish I didn’t get involved in businesses that are not worthy and pyramid schemes I got fooled into joining. Although, if I didn’t make mistakes then I wouldn’t have learned my lesson leading me to the right path. Now, I’m more aware, mature and know what I really want in life. I would love to accomplish more things in this world. Things that matter like helping and inspiring people. It’s the best feeling in the world that I can share my thoughts and experiences with you.

By the way, I’m currently taking pre-nursing classes and also volunteering in a hospital. It’s tough to juggle school, family, blog and hospital shifts, but I will keep doing blog post as much as I can.

Cheers to many more years of life together!

xoxo, Arianne 🙂

Super Bowl 2019 Vlog

Omg!! I haven’t posted in so long. I’m so sorry! I’ve taken a break and very focused on getting into the nursing program here. I will update you with everything very soon!

Anyway this post is about our Super Bowl party LA Rams VS New England Patriots. Yes, I know we lost! I was devastated, but I’ve moved on from the defeat of my team. I think Rams getting into Super Bowl is a great achievement over-all. I love supporting my city no matter what.

I feel like people in LA still haven’t realized that we have a football team now. Some people here didn’t care much about the game. I guess it will take a while to build the fans base for the Rams.

We had a good time watching the game with family and friends. I hope next year LA Rams will win!

Cozy Sweaters Under $100

Today is a new day and a new year. This year brings us the feeling of a new beginning; to start fresh, create new ideas and make new goals.

I like to spend the remaining few days of my kid’s Winter-break drinking coffee while wearing my cozy sweater. This is the time for me to gather new thoughts while spending time with them.

Lately, I have been feeling the need of “purpose in life.” I want to do something more in my life. My three kids will be all in school this year, which means I will have freedom at-last! LOL

I will be going back to school to study nursing this year. I’m extremely excited because both of my sister and mother are RN’s. It’s a wonderful and rewarding job!

How I Deal with Aging Skin

We are constantly aging. There’s no way to stop it. Yes, it’s a bummer, but accepting the fact that aging is part of life will make you feel better about yourself. Embracing “old age”

helps you prepare yourself mentally. As early as your mid-twenties,  you need to start seriously begin maintaining your skin (stay out of the sun, cleanse, moisturize). “Aging gracefully” is not

always genetic and you have to act on it with a real strategy. This results in better skin that you can make you appear younger than you actually are.

And how exactly do you do that?

I am 33 years. I noticed my skin starting to age when I was only 26 years old. Slight wrinkles started  to appear on my forehead, eye area and smile line.  It was shocking! The horror of dealing

with acne and wrinkles is not fun at all.

So what did I do?

I fought back!

I want to share with you my skin-care routine that slows down the clock and enhances your skin’s overall well-being.

Eat Healthy

You are what you eat. You’ve heard this saying before and I will tell you that you need to eat healthy as often as possible. If you eat a lot of junk food, your skin will become dehydrated, irritated

more wrinkly and look bad. I know this is a hard one for a lot of people,  especially if you’ve eaten junk food your whole life. I love junk food! I love chips (my favorite is Cheetos), candies and

anything greasy (I’m obsessed with fried food). However, every-time I eat junk food my skin becomes very “zitty” and more fine lines show up on my face. So I occasionally eat bad food, but I

am working hard to eat more healthy on a  regular basis.

Exercise Regularly

Keep on moving! Go to the gym at least twice a week or walk a mile per day in the park. The more your heart pumps the more oxygen you’ll inhale in your body. Exercise can improve your

health while making you look and feel younger. Doesn’t it feel good after working-out? According to research,  exercise creates body substances that slow down the aging of the skin. I go to the

gym twice a week. In my gym there is a steam-room and dry-sauna. I highly recommend Gold’s Gym to everyone because they keep their facility very clean. I spend one hour working-out and

15 minutes in the steam-room. My skin feels soft, supple and very moist afterwards.

Hydrate Hydrate Hydrate

Drink plenty of water all day. It depends on your height and weight, in general, health authorities commonly recommend eight 8-ounce glasses, which equals about 2 liters, or half a gallon water

per day. I have a gallon of water on my desk everyday. I do not drink it all at one time, but I sip on water constantly all through out the day. You’re not drinking enough water if you have

chapped lips and your skin is too dry. Dry skin means more wrinkles.

Avoid All of The Following:

Sun

Tanning is really bad for your skin. I am guilty of extensive tanning when I was in my early twenties. Even with SPF on, your skin will still get damaged by the Sun. However, I don’t tan as much

anymore. I only tan now for a little bit in the summer so I don’t look too pale at pool parties.  Wearing fashionable hats now at the beach is a must for me.

Stress

Stress is the ultimate enemy of your skin and your entire well-being. I got really stressed out one time and weird cysts developed under my skin. It was very scary. Fortunately, it was not cancer.

The cysts went away on its own. Moreover, acne and wrinkles show up more when I’m stressed out. Handling stress the right way can improve the appearance of your skin.

So how do I handle stress?

  • Gardening is an awesome way to fight stress. It is therapeutic and plants have a way of helping you forget life’s problems. I am serious!

  • Having turtles and a tortoise is another way I combat stress is. They are the most calm and easy-to-care for animals. I can watch my turtles swimming around all day.  I love watching my tortoise eat and bask in the sun (or his heat lamp).  Find peaceful hobbies to forget about your problems.

Negative people

They are everywhere–online and in real-life. Surround yourself with nice, loving and wonderful human. Being a blogger/vlogger can be tough at times because I receive negative comments

from time to time. I try to understand where they are coming from but don’t let it get to me. I understand that we all have different opinions about almost everything in this world, good or bad.

We can be a little too honest and hurtful with our opinions online these days.

So what about bad elements in real-life? Remember, there will always be someone out there. Stay away and distance yourself from negative people. It is not good  for you or your family. Life

can be stress – free. It’s up to you.

Too much partying!

Drinking alcohol, smoking and staying up late at night will make you age really fast. No further explanations!

Seriously, who doesn’t wake up after a night of partying and looked 10 years older? I consume alcohol very moderately. Also, my party days are very much over, since I have kids to care for. My

family and I wake up 7:00 in the morning everyday.

Use the right skin care products

If you are not using right products for your face, your skin will age sooner rather than later. I’ve used a lot of skin-care products since I was 13 years old.  I like to change it up depending on

the climate, condition of my skin and financial status!

Lately, I’ve been using the following products in my anti-aging regimen:

Team Davis at the Echo Park Community Christmas Parade

My daughter Scarlett had a Christmas parade today around 10am. We had to wake up early and didn’t have time to get my coffee. This is her first parade ever so we didn’t really know what to expect. The street Sunset boulevard was closed due to the parade all the way to Echo Park Avenue. I feel like we walked miles and miles away. If I only knew that I will be doing some massive cardio exercise today, I definitely would have worn my comfortable tennis shoes. Anyway, there were tons of people, who watched the parade. It was amazing! It was really fun to see the community gathered together to celebrate the holidays.

Living in a big city such as Los Angeles, makes me feel like there’s no culture here compare to where I grew up. Los Angeles is a city with millions of people from different parts of the world; different religion, different ethnic backgrounds and different languages. This can make a person feel disconnected from the entire community. However, the parade today made me feel like I’m part of a community now. I’m getting to know other parents and Scarlett’s classmates and teachers. Watch our VLog below to see our adventure for today 😉

Our Thanksgiving Celebration

I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving Day! My family and I enjoyed each other’s company drinking wine and over-eating. Lately, I’ve been feeling down because of the wildfires

in California. It’s like I can feel the pain of all the families affected by the fires. It’s more frustrating because there’s nothing we can do to stop all the fires. I really appreciate my family now more

than ever and very thankful that I get to spend quality time with them.

What are you thankful for? 🙂

Living in Fear?

Today is the perfect day for a birthday party. The weather couldn’t be better here in Elysian Park, Los Angeles. Scarlett’s classmate Yair turned 7 years old today. The cake taste like heaven and the bouncy house is such a big hit. Everyone is so happy.

As I look at my family through my camera lens, I can’t stop but to think of our safety. Mass shootings in this country is so common now a days. It can happen anywhere to anybody. How do you protect your family from all these danger? How did we end up being in this situation, where we live in fear?

tell your kids the truth

Growing up in the Philippines made me a strong person. I have seen some horrific things a kid should never have to see. Right around 12 years old through high-school, I had to commute to school. Public transportation in Manila is no joke. It’s very crowded, polluted and yes, it rains a lot there as well. I have a memory of me coming home from school riding a tricycle; It was a sunny day, my ride was moving really slow as it enters our gated community. Then, I saw bunch of people staring at something. My tricycle came closer to the scene and I saw a dead body laying in a puddle of blood. The person was shot by our security guard for stealing. (sorry for the graphic detail)

Anyways, that was just one of the bad things I’ve experienced as a kid. There were other things I’ve seen that made me realized life is no fairy tale. I grew up not being a scared kid, instead I was more aware of my surroundings type of kid.

Here in the USA our kids are more innocent. They go to school and come back home after school. They don’t commute to school or left alone with no adult supervision, which is how we keep them safe. However, our kids live in a bubble, where they don’t get to see what is really happening outside of their world.

Let your kids watch the news with you. Explain to them that all the things they see in the news are really happening. I find it more effective when I compare humans and animals. Here are my exact words to my kids;

“Animals live in the wild and get eaten or killed by bigger animals everyday. They always have to find ways to protect themselves to survive. It is the same thing with human beings. We live in a world, where there are bad and good people everywhere. We have to protect ourselves from bad people by staying away from them.”

what to do when an active shooter shows up

Planning is the key. Always be ready. Don’t be a “this will never happen to me” type of person. I tell my kids to find cover, look for the nearest exit away from the shooter and run as fast as possible.

We assess the place, wherever we go. Where is the exit? Where is the best place to be seating, if an active shooter shows up?

keep living life

Life is beautiful. The sky is beautiful. Your family is beautiful. I can’t express enough the good things we have in this world. While there are bad elements out there, there are more good in this world than bad.

what we can do

Fight for change. We can get back that feeling of safety in our communities by advocating for common-sense gun legislation.  We need to demand policy that will keep everyone’s kids and all of us safe. Join organizations fighting gun violence.
